Max Oldaker 1907-1972

Max was an acclaimed musical theatre actor in Britain and Australia, he was understudy to Rex Harrison and Noel Coward in the West End, London. Max returned to Tasmania to care for elderly Devonport parents and taught musical theatre in Devonport, Launceston, Melbourne and Sydney. In his life, Max overcame the prejudice against Australians in Britain, against men in theatre and against gay men.
